The engine in your Mercedes-Benz must be mounted in such a way that it resists large movements, yet is able to compensate for?driveline?flex during acceleration. All of this movement and vibration must also be isolated from the vehicles chassis to prevent your drive from being spoiled. This is accomplished through the use of specially designed engine mounts. These mounts secure the engine to the sub-frame, and through the use of hard rubber and, in some applications, hydraulic fluids, are able to keep the engine in place while not transferring any of the vibration or movement into the cabin. Just like any part on your car though, the engine mounts can wear out, and once they do, they must be replaced in order to keep your car functioning as it should. Symptoms of worn engine mounts may include clunking or knocking noises coming to the engine compartment, and vibration in the cabin, especially during acceleration or idling.
