The CC 2.0T Performance Downpipe The factory downpipe chokes the TSI engine. With two very restrictive catalytic converters in place, the OE downpipe was not made with performance in mind. Let’s fix that. AWE Tuning started by replacing these units with a German made high flow HJS metal catalyst. They also incorporated an integrated resonator to keep the exhaust sound volume civilized even with the elimination of the very restrictive factory converters. Combined with the Touring Edition Exhaust, the AWE Tuning CC 2.0T Downpipe unlocks an impressive +21hp and +20tq at the crank. Please note that due to the use of high flow catalytic converters, our downpipe section is legal only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway. Sound Perfection: AWE Tuning 180 Technology™ As exhaust gases exit the 2.0L Turbo engine and flow into an AWE Tuning 180 Technology™ equipped resonator, they pass through strategically located ports, and into reflection chambers. Sound waves, carried by these exhaust gasses, bounce off the walls of the reflection chambers. By controlling the size and location of the ports and the chambers, we also control when the sound waves exit the chambers. The specific timing of when the reflected sound waves re-join the main exhaust flow creates a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave that cancels out problematic frequencies.
