If you’ve upgraded the power of your engine, chances are it’s just a matter of time before your PCV system fails. Yet, even if your car is stock, this is a system with a limited lifespan. This system is designed to give gases a way to escape in a controlled manner from the crankcase. At the heart of the system are the PCV Valve and the Breather Hoses.
The breather tube connects the crankcase to a clean source of fresh air, while the PCV Valve connects the crankcase to the intake manifold. It is critical that the parts of the PCV system be kept clean and open; otherwise air flow will be insufficient. A plugged or malfunctioning PCV system will eventually damage an engine.

It’s recommended that you check your PCV system each time you replace the air filter and the spark plugs, due to the fact that the valve is operating continuously.
